The world is filled with talented people. Who told you, you are not? Why should you be an exception? Don’t believe people if they tell you are not smart enough or gifted enough or whatever they might say to put you down! You are your own beliefs. But you need to take ownership of your talent and then start acting upon it.
It is not your mother’s or your father’s job to figure it out, it is not your teacher’s or your mentor’s job. You need to get control of your ego, stop blaming others for not living the life you want and take responsibility for your life. You are your life’s creator, your life is only what you think it should be.
Imagine if we all just pursue our dreams and never listened to the limited opinions of others, we could be all living our dream life. The body has limitations. The mind has not.
But how do you recognise your gift?
Your talent is your inner voice, your passion within you. Whatever that makes you happy, that makes you jump out of bed or steals your sleep. It is that burning desire to achieve something or become somebody.
When I was a little girl my mum took me to a dance and music school for their entry exams. I was accepted to both. Something she never told me at the time as she had to decide whether I will follow music or dance. She chose music for me, for which I was very grateful and attended and finished the whole 8-year school with best marks, playing and loving my accordion like crazy. But the moment I got to choose myself whether to continue further at Conservatorium or not I opted for NOT TO. My primary passion was still my DANCE.
If she had asked me at the time what I would have preferred to do, my answer would have been dance school. My dance was my deep passion that never died!! It was my gift from God!
I never blamed my mum for it actually as I was really grateful for my music education and for igniting another passion in me that I would have never known I had maybe, had it not been for her to choose my childhood. And when I eventually could decide for myself I was still young enough to start dancing at that age and keep dancing my feet off for many years after, and I DID!!! I took a full ownership of my goal, pursed it and achieved it! My passion for dance never left my mind and I always believed I could dance, despite my age, so I DID. You achieve what you truly believe you can achieve.
And if you ask me where and when to start, I’ll tell you HERE and NOW! Why wait? And wait for what? You are never too old or too young, never under-qualified or over-qualified, never too pretty or too ugly, too tall or too short. You want it, you go and get it.
Decide on your goal, start now, commit to it, resolve it! It might get uncomfortable, it might get hard, you will fail, you might need to give up something. NO excuses. With discipline and commitment you will achieve it.
You don’t like your job? Change it! Start learning new skills, don’t stay in a job for 10, 20 years if you hate it, even if you are good at it already. Imagine how good you could be at a job you love, you would excel in it. You would not be only great at it, but you would be successful as well. What would you rather have, 100k a year for a job you hate, or only 60k a year for a job you truly enjoy?
You don’t like your relationship? Change it. Start changing yourself before expecting others to change to fit your expectations.
Everybody has a faculty of choice and you should use such privilege wisely and fully!
Being true to yourself is simple. Following your heart is simple. Acting upon your passion is simple. What is hard is to live the life to someone else’s expectations and not ever finding the courage to be your real self.
Act now and here. Take full ownership of your talent.
